Organic juice sales set to soar this summer
Shifting attitudes to healthy living have led to huge growths in the organic food and drink sector in recent years, typically growing at around 20 per cent per annum – and with this trend set to continue, retailers need to make sure they’re keeping up with demand by having a prominent organic juice offering in the chiller.
Grove Fresh is the leading brand in the organic juice sector, with a significant share of both the chilled
organic juice, and the chilled, not-from-concentrate sectors.
organic juice, and the chilled, not-from-concentrate sectors.“More and more people are starting to realise the benefits of eating and drinking organic produce,” says Mark Phillips, sales and marketing director at Grove Fresh. “There is a growing backlash against artificial, processed products; now, shoppers want to go ‘back to nature’ in their food and drink choices. We’re expecting to do particularly well over the coming months, beating last year’s strong double-digit growth, as consumers often turn to healthier, fresher foods in the summer.
“Grove Fresh pioneered the organic juice market in 1996, and we’ve built up significant brand loyalty since then. Once they try Grove Fresh, the majority of shoppers rarely go back to their old brands because of the superior taste that organic juice delivers.”
Grove Fresh products are certified organic by the Soil Association, Europe’s leading organic body, meaning that fertilisers, pesticides, fungicides and post-harvest treatments are banned in their production. The company works closely with growers to source the highest-quality ingredients for its juices.
There are currently seven varieties of juice to choose from, all available in 1ltr cartons, but Mark advises that for retailers where space is limited, Grove Fresh’s best-selling varieties – orange juice and apple juice – are must-stock choices.
“Organics are now firmly established in mainstream retailing, and these days, shoppers will expect to see organic brands in the chiller cabinet,” he said. “Orange and apple are our fastest-sellers, and will appeal to a wide range of consumers, but there are benefits to offering greater choice if the space is available. Organic shoppers generally are adventurous and daring, and always on the look-out for something new. Indeed, retailers who stock our more unusual varieties report that they generate increased turnover from the entire chiller.”
Grove Fresh varieties are orange, apple, grapefruit, apple & mango, apple & cranberry, ruby orange, and V Juice original tomato & vegetable. All are available in 1 litre cartons.
