Leading supplier of branded bottled water
Nexnet worked for seven years with Waterbrands, starting before the first bottle of the first brand - Harrogate Spa Water - came off the production line in the newly built plant next to a natural spring on the outskirts of Harrogate.
It was an audacious start-up business that aimed to fight its way into a very crowded market place dominated by long-established, powerful, global brands with annual marketing budgets bigger than the entire investment behind the setting up of Waterbrands. PR by Nexnet was the only continuous marketing behind Harrogate Spa Water, so the challenge was to make sure the brand got in the news and stayed in the news while the sales team developed listings in the major supermarkets.
The initial nationwide listing in Asda was supported with coverage that reached more than 23 million readers in a matter of months. This helped to promote sales, secure the continuation of the listing, and allowed for investment in new packaging, which in turn created new stories and helped cement new deals to supply Sainsbury’s, Tesco, and Waitrose, as well as major airlines, hospitals, schools, and leading rail operators. Within two years of its launch, Harrogate Spa achieved value sales that put it in the top 20 UK bottled-water brands, and had secured its place in the mainstream of the market.
