Paul Martin, managing director of parent company Waterbrands, commented: “This is the most valuable sponsorship we have undertaken in our seven-year history and we are sure our investment will pay off as it gives us fantastic opportunities to increase awareness and generate further sales of Harrogate Spa Water.
“Golf and Harrogate Spa Water have a lot in common - they share an impeccable British heritage and they’ve both continued to grow in popularity over the centuries since their origin.”
The Ricoh Women’s British Open takes place between 30 July and 2 August at Royal Lytham & St Anne’s Golf Club. It is one of only four majors on the women’s golf circuit and the only one played outside the US. The strong field will include defending champion Jiyai Shin, Lorena Ochoa, Natalie Gulbis, and Paula Creamer, and the UK’s own Melissa Reid, Laura Davies and Catriona Matthew. The BBC will broadcast daily live coverage.
The Alfred Dunhill is a pro-am tournament which sees amateur celebrity golfers partner some of the best European pros. Famous names appearing last year included Padraig Harrington, Colin Montgomerie and Ernie Els, alongside Hollywood actors Hugh Grant and Samuel L Jackson. It takes place at three Scottish courses – St Andrew’s, Carnoustie and Kingsbarns – between 1 and 4 October.
