Free legal advice for Goldthorpe residents
Residents of Goldthorpe are being invited to a free legal advice surgery.
People will be able to speak to solicitors from Barnsley firm Raleys about a wide range of issues,
including what to do in the event of an accident at home, work or in a car, how to make a will or how to start a compensation claim for occupational illness – whatever questions people want to ask. The initial consultation is completely free of charge.

Regular surgeries are scheduled for first Friday of every month. The Raleys team will be on hand from 10am – 2pm. There is no charge for initial consultations and no appointment is necessary.
Raleys Solicitors has worked with the Yorkshire Area NUM to organise regular one-to-one advice sessions in South Yorkshire’s mining communities. Miners past and present are welcome, along with their family, friends and neighbours.
“These surgeries are open to all residents of the Goldthorpe community,” said solicitor Debra Allen, of Raleys, who is co-ordinating the surgeries. “You don’t have to be an ex-miner or union member to come along and speak to us. The surgeries have proved really popular and a great opportunity for people to come along and seek advice on any kind of legal matter.”
Local NUM members can contact Joe Gaskill on 01709 881 181 for further information about the surgeries. Debra Allen is available on 01226 603 207 for non-union enquiries.
