“It was a bit daunting because I think it was a first for all of us,” she said. “It didn’t help that we managed to start right at the back of everyone else - we didn’t have much of a chance to catch anyone up, especially with one of us being pregnant!
“In the end we all really enjoyed it, especially as were able to raise so much money. We really didn’t think we’d do so well. We got a big donation from Raleys and all our friends, families and people we met on the day were really supportive, so a big thank you to everyone for helping with such a good cause.”
Sheffield Hospitals Charitable Trust is the only NHS charity managing and raising funds for all the NHS hospitals and organisations in Sheffield. Jessop Wing offers a regional service which sees babies being transferred there from across the region.
The Special Care Baby Unit cares for babies who have been born prematurely, who are very small or have life-threatening conditions, those born to diabetic mothers, babies who have had a difficult delivery or those with jaundice and babies awaiting or recovering from complex surgery.
The Sheffield Great Fun Run takes place on the same day as the Sheffield Half Marathon, with runners taking a route around Don Valley Stadium and Don Valley Bowl.
